How to choose the best nail shape for you

how to choose the best nail shape for you, post image

There are so many styles to choose from,

every single one of us is different. Every single one of us likes different things. When comes time to do the manicure we are thinking, what kind of shape do I go for? Especially if you didn’t do this very often. When you go to the nail salon and technician asks – what shape you would like to go for today? This is what happened to me as well. I even didn’t know the names of the shapes. Not all salons have a sample list where you can see the examples.

In the beginning, I did my nails just square shape, then I look at mine and I know that all of us do, I looked at other girls’ nails. I find out that I like how the coffin shape looks. It’s looked very girly in my eyes. After a time I start searching about the shapes. I realized that all of them have names, like a code of how they called. Also, different hands ask for different shapes. You have to choose the most suitable for your hands and your lifestyle. For example, if you have a small palm with short chunky fingers, you will never go for very long and sharp nails, they will look silly on you.  I will guide you through what I discovered.

NAIL-SHAPES
nail shapes

Essential shapes are square, round, oval, almond, and coffin/ballerina. These are the ones which have been chosen more often. To decide which nail shape is better for your hands, you have to analyze your finger shape, nail bed width, and nail length.

Squoval

One of the most natural-looking shapes is squoval. Which’s the shape of your cuticle, but with rounded edges. It’s the shape that looks good on short and long nails. This is very easy to do at home.

 Almond

Almond shape is very feminine and make your hands and fingers look longer, but this is the weakest natural nail shape.

Square

However, a square shape is the strongest nail shape of all of them. Because the length and width are left on. There is less chance to break them. If you work in a busy office and you have to spend time by the computer, then very long nails will be uncomfortable. Also, you will look unprofessional. The square shape is great for medium and long nails. The square shape makes nails look shorter.

Oval

Oval shape nails are great for short and narrow nail beds.

Round

Round shaped nails are for narrow nail beds and you would like to elongate your fingers. It’s for those who have a round cuticle shape. A practical tip is good for those who wear contact lenses.

Stiletto

Stiletto shape works for long nails, but its super easy to break them, can be challenging to wear them.

Coffin/ballerina

Coffin/ ballerina shape is one of them that can ask attention to your nails, but not the most practical nail shape to go for. Become very popular recently.

Lipstick

Lipstick shape as well elongate your fingers. But it’s not recommended for those who use their hands-on daily basis a lot. Recently popularized shape. You can save this shape for some special association, like a wedding.

Trapeze

Trapeze is another recently created. The edges are wider than the base of the nail. Can be worn on short and long, however safer to keep them shorter. This shape is difficult to create and maintain

Out there are so many choices and ideas to go for. Here we look into nail shapes, them pluses and minuses, what is your favorite shape? Send me your pictures, I would like to see them too.

Bonus
