Since I remember myself I always liked to do my nails. I always wanted to be different. Everyone likes those feelings when others look at you and say compliments about your look. It can be hair, eyes, nails, or dress. Use to like when my childhood friends said compliments about my nails.
I use tools that you can found at home to make it happen, use toothpicks, needles, matches, plasters, etc. I made flowers on my nails or rainbows, little hearts. After time obviously, my skills improve and I become better and more creative.
All in all was the one problem I came up with
because I use regular nail polish, it won’t last long. Maximum 2-3 days. But when you have been sitting for a couple of hours and trying to do a look you love to see, it’s painful that after 1 day all start chipping and peeling.
It doesn’t look nice when nail polish starts to chip, I straight away take off everything. When I see girls, women with chipped nail polish its rejects me. In my eyes, it looks like the person does not care about herself.
Women’s nails are part of the body beauty we can show to others.
The next issue that I come up with was the holidays. We would like to show up to the diner in a fancy hotel restaurant where others can delight the eyes with something pretty. But when I use regular nail polish all the joy finish on the second day.
We go for a swim or we do other holiday activities which help the nail polish to chip sooner. I had times when I take nail polish with me, but then you have to take other tools as well, like nail polish remover, file, cotton pads, etc.
As we all know, the baggage weight allowance is limited that you don’t want to spend important weight on nail stuff.
A couple of years ago we plan luxury holidays on a cruise ship. Of course, I wanted to look pretty from top to toe. Then I decide it’s time to go to the nail salon and do my nails which last for all my holiday time. I have done my nails the month before to see how it is, or I like it and how to wear them. All went nice and smooth. I enjoyed my holidays with zero worries about the nails.
After that, I keep visiting the nail salon. But in time I catch myself that I am not happy with the results. They cannot provide the designs and colors I wished for.
Another minus was, I have to find time to go there, do an appointment ( which doesn’t work at all) I always have to sit and wait for about an hour for my turn. Also, they always rush, because they wanted to serve as many customers as they can, which I understand – this is business and they have to make money. But for us clients, this attitude doesn’t work. It is not a cheap service and for that reason, I wait for quality.
Then after about a year of going to the salon, I understand that I am not happy with the results, coming back from the salon I made my own upgrades. I updated my nails with my own designs.
And then pandemic hit the world and everything stopped. We all went into lockdown.
I catch myself looking at youtube videos about nail designs. I become addicted to them. There are loads of videos where show how to do nails at home. I watch them and one day I said to myself that I would like to give it a try.
It does look easy. I know that it won’t be that easy but if I can do with my non-dominant hand my dominant hand and the results are stunning then I can do everything.
I researched manicure styles, tools, pros, and cons, does and dont’s. I joined several Facebook groups, keep watching youtube videos. In the end, I become to the conclusion that I have to try.
I bought all the necessary equipment and tools. And I can say that every single penny I spend is worth it.
It’s about half a year when I am doing my own nails and I love it. I can do them at my home, at my time, any time I would love to, and I can do them as I like to.
I am far from being perfect, I am still in the learning process, still discovering but the compliments I hear from people around give me wings to curry on and learn more. I get compliments even from bus drivers when I scan my ticket, at the shop when I shopping, work colleagues, and many people I meet on my day. I am so proud of myself that I gave myself a try.
